The Lady Noire Affair

Dior's new series is amazing. Starring Marion Cotillard, it is an 8 minute film noir in youtube. It's supposed to be continued... Can't wait!

Cities are not the problem: they are the solution

Cities are one of my passions, so my recent urbanistic posting is just a little of it. Here's one of my favorite TED talks of all time with Jaime Lerner. His approach to the city is quite creative and fresh, even though he's being doing it for years now.
The video is so funny too...

My birthday present to myself

Just bought this beautiful dress from Etsy... I had been wanting it for a long time and finally got the money. I could have saved it but it was tooooooooooootally impulse buying... plus it's my birthday present for myself. Sadly, it won't get here on time for Tuesday.

For more super cool stuff like this, go to Vital's shop on etsy.

High Line Urbanism

Beautiful public spaces are always a treat. Maybe not the best urbanistic approach to bettering a city, but a treat nonetheless.
New York's High Line was recently transformed, and it is definitely a beautiful space within the city. And for more before pictures like the one above, go here...

And this is how it looks now:

Beautiful Randomness

German artist Daniel Becker created this images based on random math phenomena. I think they are amazing and so beautiful in themselves; then you think about the math behind it, and they are even more beautiful and intriguing.

The Manifesto of the Cloud Appreciation Society

WE BELIEVE that clouds are unjustly maligned
and that life would be immeasurably poorer without them.
cloud

We think that they are Nature’s poetry,

and the most egalitarian of her displays, since
everyone can have a fantastic view of them.
cloud

We pledge to fight ‘blue-sky thinking’ wherever we find it.
Life would be dull if we had to look up at

cloudless monotony day after day.
cloud

We seek to remind people that clouds are expressions of the
atmosphere’s moods, and can be read like those of
a person’s countenance.
cloud

Clouds are so commonplace that their beauty is often overlooked.
They are for dreamers and their contemplation benefits the soul.
Indeed, all who consider the shapes they see in them will save
on psychoanalysis bills.
cloud

And so we say to all who’ll listen:
Look up, marvel at the ephemeral beauty, and live life with your head in the clouds!

Another guerrilla gardening resource: seed bombs. Here's a tutorial in the LA Times. And then of course you can plant them in style...

Governor's Island Style

Every year on the first days of June, there's a real cool Jazz Age Lawn Party in Governor's Island in New York. I want to go sooooo bad. I'm obsessed. But how can you not be?? They have: Charleston and Peabody dance lessons, croquet games sponsored by the New York Croquet Club, tug of war games, a pie contest, 1920's motorcars on exhibit, a Bathing Beauties and Gents Vintage Swimsuit Parade, and couture milliners.
